Ginger has been a part of the CrossFit community since 2015 and started coaching CrossFit in 2016. “Prior to CrossFit, I did a little bit of everything. I picked up a basketball when I was 7 years old and never set it down my entire childhood. I continued to play basketball all throughout high school and still play every chance I get. I ran track and cross country in high school as well, mostly just to pass the time until basketball season rolled around again.” After high school, Ginger attended UWF in Pensacola where she majored in Exercise Science. “I continued to run every day and got into lifting weights while at UWF, just following a bodybuilding split routine I got off Bodybuilding.com, but I was really missing that competitive spirit high school sports-filled me with. I trained for and competed in an NPC bodybuilding competition, did a 12-mile Tough Mudder, joined a Bootcamp class and of course, did (and continue to do) every local 5K around. It wasn’t until I tried CrossFit that I finally found the competitive atmosphere I was looking for! I went to one class and I was hooked. CrossFit presented me with elements of fitness I had never been exposed to, such as the Olympic lifts and gymnastics movements and the challenge of it all kept me coming back every day, and still does 5 years later!”
Ginger has been personal training clients 1 on 1 since 2014 and coaching CrossFit and CrossFit Kids since 2016. She’s led group fitness classes such as BodyPump, HIIT, and low impact Bootcamp classes as well, which she absolutely loves doing. “I’m passionate about CrossFit because of the community and its inclusiveness. It’s pretty uncommon for 3 generations to be working out at the same gym, at the same time. But not at CrossFit… at a CrossFit gym you’ll likely find one generation doing CrossFit Kids, and the other two generations in the regular class working out side by side. A moment I will never forget is when one of my 10-year-old CrossFit Kids stopped during our class to cheer on her grandmother finishing a workout in the adult class. Afterward, she, her dad, and her grandmother all walked out the door together talking about the workout. How amazing to sit back and watch that?” No matter if it’s CrossFit Kids, regular adult classes, or a 1 on 1 session with a senior…Ginger loves seeing members show up and give it their all while having fun with the community of people around them.
In addition to helping people lead a more active life through fitness, Ginger is equally as passionate about helping people achieve optimal health through nutrition coaching. “I love showing people that you don’t have to give up the enjoyment and social aspect of food in order to get healthy. So many people associate food and nutrition with extreme diets and deprivation. I’m passionate about providing my clients with the tools and education that enable them to make confident nutrition choices every day.”
