4 Thought Friday

By: Mako Athletics

Below is your weekly dose of 4 Thought Friday, a short list of idea’s, thoughts, and experiments from a few members of the Mako Team. Enjoy!

Kyle’s Watching:

Must Watch! I watched The Magic Pill on Netflix this week and it was an excellent documentary into healthy eating and how the big food companies have led us down this path of unhealthy eating. Eating for better help does not have to be complicated. I like to follow Greg Glassman’s approach by eating meats and vegetables, nuts & seeds, some fruit, little starch, and NO sugar! On a side note: I get this video talks about the Kito diet and I recommend not focusing so much on that but focusing on how eating healthy can benefit you and how cutting out processed foods can change your health for the better. I challenge you to try to go a month without processed food! Who thinks they can do it? Getting Better, Together!

Seth’s Reading:

I’ve been listening to How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie. I use Audible it is a great way to read and keeps me on track as you receive one book a month. This is an older book that has stood the test of time talking about how people stress themselves out, and how in reality nothing is ever as serious as we believe. This book has been a good reminder for me to remember to slow down, breath, enjoy life, and everything that it has to offer.

Brandon’s Improving:

I am getting back to doing mobility as a night routine. Back before Mako began, I got deep into the weeds on mobility, position, and everything Dr. Kelly Starrett (KStar) put out on his YouTube channel. As life got busy though, I stopped doing a lot of it due to lack of discipline and always trying to find the next “best thing.” What I had forgotten are the lessons and tools I learned from these FREE VIDEOS shaped me as a mover and a coach of movement. So I challenge you to the KStar Challenge: start with episode 1 and work your way through it. It will take 10-15 minutes of your time to feel better, move better, and understand a little more about positions and how they affect how you feel and perform

Kevin Enjoying:

Smoothie recipe that I have been using every morning and enjoying a great deal.

Two BIG hands full of spinach
1-1.5 cups of frozen mixed berries
1 banana
1 cup water
Driven Whey Protein
*you can add a tablespoon or two of high quality nut butter for your fats!
*add ice if you want it a little colder

This is super simple and really tasty. It helps to have a good blender. I personally just have a ninja blender and it gets the job done! Post your smoothies to social media and make sure to tag me!
