Kyle Recommends: I just finished Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown. The whole book is based around understanding a quote by Maya Angelou, “You are only free when you realize you belong no place- you belong every place-no place at all. The price is high. The reward is great.”

We can get so caught up with trying to please everyone that we add the stress of trying to complete an impossible task. Also by trying to please everyone, we sometimes change who we are to fit in and change our values and self-worth in the process. It is an amazing read and she demonstrates that true belonging doesn’t require us to change who we are; it requires us to be who we are.

Brandon Enjoying: Like most people, a significant part of my morning routine is enjoying coffee. On days I plan on going a little longer before my first meal, I like to add Fat and Protein to my coffee for an extra boost of energy that extends into the afternoon. High-quality ingredients is something I strive always, but especially something I consume almost daily. I get most of these ingredients from Everwell, here in Pensacola. If you haven’t been in, you should check it out.

My recipe is as follows:

  1. Brew Coffee- I use a French Press most of the time.

2.Fill your cup up 1/3 of the way

  1. Add Tbs of Collagen Protein, Tbs *MCT Oil(B.P. Brain Octane), or 1/4 Coconut Milk. Also, a dash of vanilla extra, cinnamon, or nutmeg is optional.
  2.  I then use my Aerolatte to blend it for 15-20 seconds
  3. Fill the cup up the rest of the way and enjoy.

* MCT Oils can upset the stomach if you take too much or are not used to it. Start off with a teaspoon and go

Kevin Envisioning: Have a vision of where you want to be!

“An apple tree starts with a seed. You will not always be a seed but If you look at the seed and only see a seed, you will remain a seed. You’re not a seed and you will not remain at that point in your life. Don’t get the seed confused with the tree.”

I heard this quote years ago (from who escapes me) but it’s always a constant reminder to me. Your circumstances may be X,Y and Z but this doesn’t mean that they can’t change. The important thing is to have proper vision of what your future looks like. This might be Fitness related, job related or a vision of your personal relationships. I challenge you this week to visualize what your future looks like. If you want that PR deadlift, visualize it and put a plan in place to achieve it. Do you want a raise at work? Visualize what that looks like and take the necessary steps to put yourself in a position for that raise! This is simple but often forgotten!

Seth Reading: I’ve been enjoying the Golden Compass by Philip Pullman and the entire series of what is called his dark materials. For a long time I was only reading Non-Fiction books, I had a belief that if I was going to read something it needed to be related to business or learning something for business. I had long lost the joy I had for reading when I was a kid and would devour Goosebumps novels and any other books I could get my hands on. Recently I started to read Fiction before bed as a way to turn my so call Monkey Mind off. I can say without a doubt it is one of the better changes I have made, and it has sparked my love for stories and that zeal to read for fun again.
